Non-Surgical Otoplasty (EarWells)

EarWells are a device used by Miami based plastic surgeon Dr. Arthur Desrosiers to help correct cosmetic ear deformities in infants. This is a non-surgical procedure that is performed in the office and can correct prominent or misshaped ears. There is no scalpel, no needles, and it can be performed on babies as young as 10 days old. It is analogous to braces for the ears.

Patients treated prior to the age of 6 weeks often have the best outcomes with the EarWells, but babies can be treated up to 6 months of age, with the best results when the baby is still breast feeding. Natural breast milk contains hylaronidase which allows the ear cartilage to remain malleable. If you are concerned about a cosmetic ear deformity, we recommend scheduling a consultation for your baby as soon as possible. For the average patient that is a candidate for the procedure, Dr. Desrosiers prefers to start EarWell intervention at or prior to 2 weeks of age.
